Hong Kong on a whim? Girls are crazy!

Hong Kong. Photo from Conde Nast.
I don't get girls.

My girlfriend, Kelly, just went on an HK trip on a whim. I've seen her shop on a whim, go to Tagaytay on a whim, but this is the first time she went overseas on a whim. What is the matter with girls?

Kelly came from a family of means; so, money is not really a much of a consideration. (Insert my bestfriend here lecturing me that in legalese, money is a consideration). And admittedly, she trumps me on chichi-ness in all levels.

Apparently, her all-female barkada has decided to go on a shopping spree in Hong Kong. I didn't hear of any sale though. So, my girlfriend, being the "joiner" that she is, decided to go with them. They left this afternoon.

Traveling is such a chichi activity. If you want to earn more chichi point, you should do traveling a lot! While I love exploring new places, I'd rather stay in my hotel room and sleep. I don't know, maybe I am perpetually sleep-deprived that's why I just want to sleep when I have the chance.

Here's a tip, if you want to appear chichi to your social climbing friends on Facebook, below is a list of the places you ought to have a picture taken at when you travel, (in order):

  1. Facade of the seat of power, capitol, or similar administrative building;
  2. Facade and inside of the city's most popular museum;
  3. Beside a universally-acknowledged work of art (if possible);
  4. In a university;
  5. Facade of a church (two centuries old at the very least);
  6. In an outdoor park;
  7. Other tourist attractions the city is popular at;
  8. Inside the city's most famous restaurant;
  9. Inside the mall.
The above list includes in order all the places a reasonable and logical smart, cultured, pedigreed, and chichi person would visit.

Since Kelly is abroad, I called my bestfriend Aaron to ask him if he could join me for dinner. Unfortunately, my bestfriend since time immemorial is being such a total ass, as if he has lost all the rationality he learned from his twenty something units of philosophy back in undergrad.

He said he is too lazy to go out; but he is willing to, provided that I pick him up at his house AND I PAY for our dinner. What the hell? I don't even have money to buy me steak for dinner, and he wants me to pay for his? He's crazier than Kelly! Har.

My friend Glai, who works as an entertainment journalist, is currently on a press junket in Bicol. I would go out with her when Aaron is being unreasonable. Lol. Glai will be out of town (and out of reach) until Monday.

It suddenly made me realize how much I missed writing. I used to cover the same beat as Glai's and I tell you, I miss all the nightly deadlines, the painstaking transcriptions, and the competitive out-scooping. *sigh* But I'd love to think I am in a better position now. I hope.

P.S. My friend Chuck Smith, who is Yahoo!'s resident entertainment writer here in the Philippines, just tweeted that he is bored. I should have just invited Chuck in the first place! We could have gone to Romulo's for dinner or take an evening jog in their gated community in Makati. So, chichi, right?

For a Saturday night, this is absolutely BORING. Kelly, please come home. I miss you already. And Aaron, please stop being an ass when I need you. I love you, still. And Glaiza, make sure you bring me home crates of pili nuts.

P.P. S. Sorry if I was not able to blog last night. I came from a doctor's appointment and I was exhausted from all the laboratory tests they did on me. I hope everyone had a nice day. Tomorrow, I'll be off to church.

Stay chichi!
